Diode Specifications
Peak Current Rating

Power diode

The peak current rating of a diode (Iomax) is maximum current that a diode can pass through it without being damaged.

The current passing through a diode should not exceed the peak current rating specified in its datasheet. If it does, the diode will undergo an internal junction meltdown and will be defective and useless in a circuit.
