Formula to Calculate the Capacitance of a Capacitor

What does the Voltage Rating on a Capacitor Mean?

The formula to calculate the capacitance of a capacitor is:

C= Q/V

where C is the capacitance (measured in farads), Q is the charge across the capacitor (measured in coulombs), and V is the voltage across the capacitor (measured in volts).

Example

A capacitor has a voltage across of it of 5V and holds a charge of 3 coulombs. Calculate the capacitance of this capacitor.

C=Q/V=(3/5)=0.6F

So this capacitor has a capacitance of 0.6F.
