Transistor Types (Hierarchy)

These are all the major types of transistors and this chart forms the hierarchy of transistors.

BJT stands for Bipolar Junction Transistors.
FET stands for Field Effect Transistors.
JFET stands for Junction Field Effect Transistors.
MOSFET stands for Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors.
CMOS stands for Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors.

Mosfet transistors are used in the electronic industry such as by Apple in the making of Ipod chips. Mosfet comes in both N-type (N-MOS) and P-type (P-MOS). CMOS uses both n-type and p-type materials.
