What are Tweeter Speakers?

Tweeter Speakers

Tweeter speakers are speakers that are designed to play out high-frequency sounds with good audio quality.

Speakers play out sounds well (with good quality) depending on the frequencies of the sound signals they play. Certain speakers play out sounds well that are low frequency (bass). These are called woofer speakers. Another group of spkeakers called midrange speakers play out midrange sounds well. The other group of speakers, tweeters, play out high-frequency sounds well.

Tweeter speakers normally are small in size. To play out high-frequency sounds, the speakers can be small in size, phyiscally. This is because high-frequency sounds have small wavelengths, which small speakers are able to reproduce well. To play out bass with decent audio quality, speakers normally must be bigger in size. This is because low frequency sounds have longer wavelengths, which only big speakers can reproduce well.

In speaker crossover networks, which are networks that divert low frequencies and high frequencies to different sets of speakers, high-frequency sounds are diverted to tweeters, since they play high frequencies with the best audio quality.

Tweeters are most effective for playing out high frequency sounds.
